Dani Grant School of Dance Ballet Uniform and Class Etiquette Policy

To maintain a disciplined, professional, and respectful learning environment, all students must adhere to the following uniform and etiquette standards. Failure to comply will result in exclusion from class participation.
Hair
• A ballet bun or appropriate style is compulsory for all students from Grade 1 upwards and is strongly encouraged from Primary. The bun must be securely fastened with hairpins to ensure it remains neat throughout class.
• No loose hair is permitted. Short hair must be neatly pinned back with clips or a headband.
Uniform
• Students must wear the designated leotard, ballet tights, and soft ballet shoes for their grade level.
• Pointe shoes must be properly fitted and approved by the Teacher before being worn in class.
Jewellery and Accessories
• No jewellery is allowed in class, except for small stud earrings or items worn for religious reasons.
• Watches are not permitted in class.
Class Etiquette
• Students must arrive on time and be fully dressed in the correct uniform before entering the studio.
• All students should warm up quietly before class begins.
• Respect for teachers and fellow students is expected at all times—this includes listening attentively, following instructions promptly, and maintaining a positive attitude.
• No talking during class unless asking a relevant question.
• Wait for designated water breaks—students may only drink water when permitted by the Teacher, typically after jumps/allegro. Do not leave the space to get a drink unless given permission.
• Mobile phones must be switched off and stored away before class.
These rules ensure a focused, respectful, and professional learning environment.
