6. Parental Responsibilities

6.1 Fees, VAT & Charging Structure

6.1.1 Fees are charged on a per-term basis unless otherwise stated.

6.1.2 All fees are inclusive of VAT where applicable, in accordance with HMRC requirements. VAT is charged at the prevailing rate set by HMRC.

6.1.3 Fees reflect the cost of tuition, venue hire, staffing, administration, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance, and are reviewed periodically.

6.1.4 Once a place has been accepted, fees are payable for the full term and are not refundable for absences, missed classes, or minor timetable variations due to school holidays or circumstances beyond our control.

6.1.5 In the event that a class cannot take place, an alternative session may be offered where possible. Otherwise, fees remain unchanged.

6.2 Tuition Fees & Payment

6.2.1 Parents agree to:

    •    Pay fees on time.

    •    Pay a £20 late fee for overdue invoices.

    •    Pay a £10 administration fee for repeated reminders.

    •    Provide five weeks’ written notice to terminate tuition or pay fees in lieu of notice.*

    •    Accept that missed lessons are non-refundable.

    •    Acknowledge that additional fees may apply for examinations, shows, workshops, and special events.

    •    Pay for additional pre-exam lessons where applicable.

*Ending Tuition (Notice Policy)

6.2.2 If a you decide to stop lessons, five weeks’ written notice during term time is required, or five weeks’ fees must be paid in lieu of notice.

6.2.3 Tuition and payment continue for five scheduled weeks of classes from the date notice is received, even if the student does not attend those lessons. School holidays do not count towards the notice period.

This policy helps us plan classes, staffing, and student places fairly - it’s standard practice in ballet and performing arts schools.

Example 1:

If you give notice on Monday 1st May and there are classes each week, your notice period would run until Monday 5th June. You would be charged for 5 weeks of tuition, whether or not you attend.

Example 2 – Summer Holidays:

If you give notice on Monday 15th July, but the summer holidays begin on Monday 22nd July, only one week of your notice falls in term time. The remaining four weeks of notice would begin once the new term starts in September, meaning the notice period would finish in mid-October. You would be charged for five weeks of classes during that time.

6.3 Goods & Merchandise

6.3.1 All items must be paid for upon delivery.

6.3.2 Faulty garments must be washed before being returned.

6.3.3 Made-to-order garments are non-refundable unless faulty.

6.3.4 Tights and socks cannot be returned once worn.

6.4 Physical Teaching Techniques

6.4.1 Dance is a physical discipline, and teachers may need to gently place students to demonstrate correct positioning.

6.4.2 If a parent or guardian objects to this practice, the school may be unable to include the student in classes.
